Giant Redwoods RV Camp
Sometimes, especially on road trips, things do not go as expected. Sometime when things do not go as expected they turn out much better than you could have anticipated. Many years ago we were taking a road trip from Washington State to California via the coastal route. In northern California we wanted to see the giant redwood trees. It was getting later in the day and we needed to find a campground and stop for the night. We pulled off Hwy-101 in the Redwoods and stopped at a campsite. The site was completely full so we got back in the car and checked the next campsite. The next campsite was also full and we continued searching for a campground until we were a fair distance from the main road. Finally, we stopped at the Giant Redwoods RV Camp and they had some spaces available. We found a campsite, paid the fee, and setup camp.
The campground was quiet and we parked in front of small river. High walls of bamboo separated each of the individual sites. They had a nice office and an amphitheater with large screen for movies. I was glad that the other campgrounds were full because this one was pretty special. We had a pleasant dinner and relaxing sleep before continuing our journey in the norming.
Part of the joy of road tripping is finding unexpected places and things. This was one of those unexpected finds that makes for road trip memories. It was probably somewhere around 2002 when we visited and I hope it is still as nice as I remember.
